Members are chosen for their extensive experience and knowledge, reputation in the marketplace, and focus on the discriminating customer who is looking to build a custom home. A Southern Living Custom Builder builds a Showcase Home to bring to the customer emerging design trends, home technology updates and green building techniques.

A portion of the funds raised through that time period will be donated to HomeAid Houston. The funds have been committed to HomeAid's upcoming Gracewood project. HomeAid and Legend Homes are partnering with Gracewood to build a 7400 sq. ft., five-family residential facility for Gracewood's Spring Branch location. Gracewood provides housing for mothers and their children who need a safe haven from crisis situations.
"When Yvonne and I were given the honor of building a home for the Southern Living Showcase Home Program, we wanted to share this opportunity with a local charity by giving back," said Ted Cummins, Chief Creative Officer for Morning Star. "HomeAid and the work they do to build transitional housing for homeless men, women and children touched us deeply. We are delighted we can contribute to the Gracewood effort to ensure a safe and inspiring environment for mothers and their children."
