HomeAid and Frankel Building Group Dedicate Remodel Project for SEARCH
May 29, 2012
More than a dozen guests attended the recent dedication of a HomeAid Care project that was led by Frankel Building Group, the builder captain. The project involved improvements to the SEARCH client intake area at the Fannin location.
SEARCH Homeless Services provides an array of services designed to help people move from the streets and into jobs and safe, affordable housing.
The team was led by Frankel Building Group’s Scott and Kevin Frankel. They worked in partnership with Ami Westbrook, RID, LEED AP, Studio Red Architects, who donated the architectural plans for the area.
Mark Welch, president of HomeAid Houston and land acquisition manager for David Weekley Homes kicked off the dedication ceremony with a few words welcoming the attendees. Also on-hand for the ceremony was Thao Costis, president and CEO of SEARCH, Scott and Kevin Frankel and their project superintendents Brian Adams and Scott Evans; Will Holder, president of the GHBA and president of Trendmaker Homes; Leslie King, HomeAid Care chair and owner of Greymark Construction; Ami Westbrook with Studio Red Architects; Bette Moser, executive director of HomeAid Houston and Lea Pipitone, director of marketing and special events for HomeAid and a special guest speaker who was a client at SEARCH.
The dedication party saw first-hand the valuable improvements that were made. The work began with the demolition of the interior of the existing client intake area by the staff of the Frankel Building Group and the construction of new cabinetry offsite with Mike Delaney of Benedettini Cabinetry. The new structure that was installed featured a new Corian countertop and Formica exterior. The unit was designed to better suit the needs of the employees who work with the clients. The intake counter also includes a wheelchair accessible area and provides shelving, cabinets and computer trays designed especially for employee needs.
The entire area was also repainted, including an accent wall. In addition, the exterior hallway leading to the client intake area was repainted and the opening refaced with Formica.
Vendors and Suppliers were: Builder Captains: Scott Frankel and Kevin Frankel, Frankel Building Group; HomeAid Care Chair: Leslie King, Greymark Construction; Benedettini Cabinetry; Cruz Laminates; Designer Stone Center, Inc.; Schlage; Studio Red Architects and Warrior Painting.
