The much anticipated 2016 HomeAid Houston Project Playhouse recently debuted at an annual HomeAid fundraiser. M/I Homes, the playhouse builder and designer, has turned virtual reality into reality with its release. It offers a video game style design and accessories and is called the Pixel Playhouse. This is the 10th anniversary of HomeAid Houston's Project Playhouse fundraiser.
HomeAid Houston, a non-profit charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), and M/I Homes will be displaying Pixel Playhouse in partnership with the Houston Astros and the Astros Foundation, at Minute Maid Park during the Astros games, from June 1 to June 22. Fans will have an opportunity to win the playhouse in a drawing on the 22nd with funds raised, benefiting HomeAid's mission - to build new lives for homeless families and individuals through housing and community outreach.
The playhouse was built with donated materials and labor by GHBA members, including J.P. Hart Lumber, Builders First Source, ProBuild, Quick Roofing, Builders Mechanical (BMI), IES Residential, Installed Building Products and MediLab 3D Solutions. Pixel Playhouse includes air conditioning, a front porch and Dutch door, tempered safety glass windows, a plasma TV, a treasure chest, exterior torches, game seating, and a hand created rug, tree and artwork.
Linda Lynch, M/I Homes senior administrator and Jean Pearcy, M/I Homes sales administrator created many of the playhouse accessories and also presented the playhouse at the fundraiser.
The M/I Homes team includes Amanda Rackliff, marketing manager; Keith Blum, vice president of purchasing; Bobby R. "M/I Homes is honored and excited to participate in Project Playhouse this year," said Jay McManus, division president. "What better way to raise money to end homelessness in our own backyard. This is a tremendous opportunity for M/I Homes in Houston to give back to the community and involve our employees by doing what we do best - build homes!"
"HomeAid's 10th annual Project Playhouse is sure to be a huge success with our partnership that includes the professionals at M/I Homes and the Houston Astros," said Cindy Hinson, president of HomeAid Houston. "Pixel Playhouse will make it fun for the entire family to help raise funds for HomeAid's mission."
