ExxonMobil Intern Day of Care 2011

July 6, 2011 -- ExxonMobil committed 20 interns from their Community Summer Jobs Program (CSJP), to join HomeAid Houston recently to paint three apartments at Santa Maria Hostel's Spring Branch location. HomeAid Houston is a Greater Houston Builders Association charity.

The 20 interns were organized into teams coordinated by Leslie King, Greymark Construction and HomeAid staff. The paint helped enhance the apartments, adding warmth and a fresh look. Sherwin Williams Paint Co. provided the supplies. After the painting was complete, the interns gathered for lunch and had the opportunity to hear a 'graduate' of Santa Maria share her story.

Each summer, ExxonMobil works with Volunteer Houston to provide 60 local nonprofit agencies with grants designated to hire college interns for eight weeks. Students are employed by social, cultural and health service organizations as an introduction to careers or volunteer leadership positions in the nonprofit sector. Internship positions are diverse and include jobs such as caseworkers, volunteer coordinators, public relations assistants and website designers. This is the second summer that HomeAid Houston has been awarded a grant through the CSJP program.

"We are honored to be a part of the program," said Bette Moser, executive director of HomeAid Houston. "It was exciting to work side by side with the 20 interns ExxonMobil committed to the Santa Maria painting project. This donation is another reflection of the company's generosity and vision."

Santa Maria is committed to providing services for women and their children in crisis. It is also the largest multi-site substance abuse treatment center serving both women and their children in the State of Texas.
